Time and again in recent decades, we savers have been punished in our efforts to provide for the future. Despite the clear economic and social benefits of a thriving savings culture, successive governments have obstructed, neglected, and at times directly attacked the interests of responsible savers.

The only way savers can stop this mistreatment is to vote for candidates who are prepared to support savers in the next parliament. So in the run up to the election we are asking candidates to tell us where they stand on some important saving issues.

How they have responded…

  1. Do you believe new policies are needed to encourage people to save to enhance their independence and financial security?

  2. If "yes" what specifically do you think Government should do?

To see these results please see the individual results by candidate / constituency.
  3. Do you think that the Government should require ISA providers to pass on the tax exemption benefit in full in comparison with standard savings accounts?

  4. Do you believe that Government* actions damaging to pensions should be immediately repealed?

*Reference to “Government” here refers to successive administrations and not Labour’s tenure from 1997 exclusively. This question is focussed solely on repealing damaging action rather than any Government measures taken that are favourable to the saver.

  5. Do you think it should be a requirement in the Annual Budget for the Government to set a target Household Savings Ratio?
